From the box to the cloud
Find the CONSOLE port
On your master battery (the one connected to the inverter, top of the stack in most installs), locate the RJ45 socket marked CONSOLE. Leave the CAN / RS485 cable to the inverter and the LINK cables between batteries exactly where they are.
Plug in the console cable
Plug the end of the supplied RJ45 cable labelled BAT into the CONSOLE port, and the other end into the PylonCheck box. The battery does not need to be switched off.
Power the box
Plug the USB-C cable into the box and into any 5 V USB charger or a free USB port nearby. The box starts in a few seconds.
Join your WiFi
On your phone, open the WiFi list and connect to the network named Pylon-Check-Setup. The setup page opens by itself: pick your home WiFi (2.4 GHz), type its password, done. The box restarts on your network.
Open the local dashboard
On the same WiFi, open http://pylon-check.local (or the IP your router gave the box). Within a minute you see the charge, cells and temperatures of your batteries.
Link it to your cloud account
Sign in on pylon-check.com with the email you ordered with, open My account → Devices and paste the cloud key shown on the box's own page. Your battery now appears in your cloud dashboard, from anywhere.

Everything needed is included except a USB charger, which almost everyone has.

If something does not show up
| Symptom | What to check |

| No battery data | The cable must be in the CONSOLE port of the master battery, not in CAN, RS485 or LINK. The BAT end goes to the battery. |
| Only one battery of the stack appears | The LINK cables between batteries must be in place, and the stack must be addressed correctly (as your installer set it up). PylonCheck reads what the master reports. |
| The setup WiFi does not appear | Wait 30 seconds after powering on. If the box was already set up, press its button twice quickly to reopen the setup WiFi. |
| The box does not join my WiFi | Use a 2.4 GHz network (most routers broadcast one next to 5 GHz). Check the password; avoid captive-portal guest networks. |
| Nothing in the cloud | Check the cloud key is linked in your account and that the box shows "cloud: connected" on its page. The first cloud reading can take up to 5 minutes. |
| I moved or changed router | Press the button twice quickly: the setup WiFi reopens, pick the new network. Nothing else is erased. |
Questions
Do I need to switch the battery off?
No. The CONSOLE port can be plugged in with the system running.
Do I need to change anything on my inverter?
No. The inverter keeps its own CAN / RS485 link to the battery; PylonCheck uses the separate CONSOLE port.
How far can the box be from the battery?
As far as the supplied console cable reaches. The box must also be within reach of your 2.4 GHz WiFi.
Can my installer set it up for me?
Yes. It takes them a few minutes; you then link the box to your own account.
