Is there a Pylontech app? Your real options for seeing the battery on a phone

You have a Pylontech battery, you open the app store, you type “Pylontech”… and nothing really does what you hoped. Here is why, and the four ways people actually check their Pylontech from a phone.

Short answer: for the low-voltage US range (US2000C, US3000C, US5000), there is, to our knowledge, no consumer app from Pylontech that reads the battery directly. Your inverter’s app shows the state of charge and power; Pylontech’s own software is a PC tool for technicians. To see every battery, every cell, State of Health and alarms on a phone, you need something that reads the battery’s CONSOLE port and puts the data online, which is what PylonCheck does.

Why the app stores disappoint

A Pylontech US battery is designed to be driven by an inverter. It talks to the inverter over CAN or RS485, sends it the limits it needs (how much it may charge and discharge) and an overall state of charge. It has no WiFi, no Bluetooth, nothing a phone could connect to. Whatever you see on a phone always goes through another device.

That is why searching for a “Pylontech app” mostly brings up inverter apps, installer tools and apps for other battery brands.

The four real options

1. Your inverter’s app

Victron, SMA, Goodwe, Growatt, Deye, Sunsynk and others all have an app or web portal. It is free, it works from anywhere, and it is the first place to look. What it usually shows: overall state of charge, battery power, sometimes voltage and temperature. What it usually does not show: each battery of the stack separately, individual cell voltages, the spread between cells, State of Health, cycle count, the BMS’s own alarm and protection flags.

2. Pylontech’s PC software

Pylontech provides Windows software (often called BatteryView) for diagnostics and firmware work. It connects to the battery with a console cable, needs a laptop next to the battery and is meant for installers. Very useful for a one-off check, not for everyday monitoring, and not on a phone.

3. DIY: a small computer and open-source software

A Raspberry Pi or similar, a USB-to-serial adapter on the CONSOLE port, and community software can read the battery and publish it to Home Assistant. It works and it is flexible, but it takes time, the right cable, and keeping the whole chain alive.

4. A dedicated box with a cloud dashboard

A small box plugs into the CONSOLE port of the master battery, reads the BMS, and sends the data to a cloud dashboard you open on any phone. That is PylonCheck: every battery of the stack, every cell, State of Health, cycles, temperatures and protection flags, live every two minutes and with three years of history. It is read-only and does not touch the inverter link.

What to look at once you have it

  • Cell spread (difference between the highest and lowest cell): a few millivolts is normal; a spread that grows over weeks deserves attention. Our cell imbalance guide explains the thresholds.
  • State of Health per battery: it should fall slowly over the years and stay similar across modules of the same age.
  • Temperatures: one module consistently warmer than the others often points to wiring or ventilation.
  • Protection flags: the BMS records why it limited or cut charging or discharging. The inverter usually only shows the consequence.

Questions

Does Pylontech have an official app?

For the low-voltage US batteries, to our knowledge there is no consumer app that reads the battery directly. Pylontech provides PC software for technicians; day to day, people use their inverter app or a box such as PylonCheck that reads the CONSOLE port.

Can I connect my phone to a Pylontech battery with Bluetooth?

No. Pylontech US batteries have no Bluetooth or WiFi. A phone always sees the battery through another device: the inverter, a computer or a monitoring box.

Why does my inverter app not show each battery?

The master battery sends the inverter a summary of the whole stack. Per-battery and per-cell details stay inside the BMS and are read through the CONSOLE port.

Does PylonCheck need a subscription?
